Uncovering the Gaps in Your Insurance

Tim Lewis recently represented AgQuest/MN River Insurance at the annual IRMI Emmett J Vaughan Agribusiness Conference in Des Moines, Iowa.  The conference offers a forum where agents, brokers, underwriters, and insurance buyers can gain the expertise they need to properly insure the unique exposures of farms and agribusinesses, while networking and sharing best practice ideas with peers in the industry.  The conference also gives agents the opportunity to earn or renew their Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS®) certification.  As a certified AFIS, Tim also took advantage of renewing his certification at the conference.

With a huge number of topics being presented by nationally recognized experts, Tim attended eight different breakout sessions.  The sessions ranged from the differences in auto policies to the use of drones and concerns with their cybersecurity.

Having attended this conference for many years, Tim also had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a presenter concerning pollution.  They talked through the limits that are offered and what can be defined as pollution.

“Surprisingly water can even be considered pollution based on the labeling of a transport tank,” Tim says. “Although this is not a large concern, it goes to show that without a good understanding of a farmer’s operation, there may be gaps in their insurance program without even knowing it.”

Most agents and policy holders look at insurance coverages as all being the same.  This is not the case at AgQuest/MN River Insurance.  “We look at each client independently and help them understand their risks, uncover any possible gaps and give them options on how they can protect or transfer that risk,” Tim states.

AgQuest/MN River Insurance prides themselves on having in-depth knowledge of the farming industry and farm insurance.  They dig deeper and really get to know their clients and their business or operation so that no situation or property is left uncovered.  As AgQuest/MN River Insurance agents, both Tim and Amber Weber are AFIS® certified; a one of a kind designation strictly for the farm industry.
