Seeing the Drought from New Heights

Reported by: Beth Tuttle, KIMT News 3

ST. ANSGAR, IA – Local farmers are looking at an early harvest season and to help them get a better view of their crops they’re taking to the skies.

Farmers at a meeting in St. Ansgar are getting a helicopter ride. They can then see their fields and have a better idea of how the drought affected them and what can still be harvested.

Crop officials say it will be a stressful harvest, and maybe the earliest harvest they’ve seen in years.

Officials are also reminding people about staying safe with harvesting machines out earlier than normal.
