AgQuest welcomes Local Seed Company to their family of retailers

AgQuest would like to welcome Local Seed Company as our newest retailer.  Formed in 2017, Local Seed is a direct-to-growers seed business.  Though new to the industry, their leadership, experience and seed knowledge goes well beyond the young company.  With a collaborative team of respected industry veterans, they are taking seed placement to the next level by providing growers with seed products custom crafted for each farm.  Instead of selling mass-produced seed, they sell products specifically developed for individual local growers based on their soil types and growing conditions. They do local testing to confirm product placement and management, knowing that each field is unique. With numerous licensing agreements that allow them access to virtually all genetic traits, as well as a broad range of diverse germplasms in corn, soybean, wheat, rice, cotton and cover crops, Local Seed is able to develop seed that is specific to each field; maximizing yield potential and the grower’s investment.

Local Seed is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee and services growers throughout the Northeast, Delmarva and Atlantic Coastal regions, and across the Southeastern and Mid-South regions. They own and operate a seed sales business in Clarksdale, Mississippi, as well as a seed development company in Jersey Shores, Pennsylvania, where they grow much of their seed stock.

Shelly Bogue is the acting BRM representing AgQuest to Local Seed Company customers.  Shelly is well versed in agriculture and ag financing.  Born and raised in Mississippi, Shelly graduated with a BS degree in Accounting and received her MBA from Mississippi State University. Her first position in the ag industry was as an accountant for Tri-County Co-op, Pickens, Mississippi. From there, she moved into a location manager position for Sanders, Inc., also located in Pickens, Mississippi. In late 2012, she transferred out of the role of location manager and into Credit and Commercial Finance for Sanders, Inc., now known as Pinnacle Ag. In that position she negotiated and managed all third-party and vendor financing for the company.

Shelly is married to Sid Bogue and has two children, Rachel and Zachary. Rachel is 20 years old and planning to enter nursing school in the fall. Zachary is 17 and will be graduating from high school in May.
